You are the success formula

High-achieving women are often looking for the perfect formula, the perfect sequence of steps and events that will take you from one thing to the next perfectly each time.

However, no number of routines, habits, choices, or actions will be useful or supportive to you if you do not have yourself in order first.

I noticed in other areas of my life that when I let go of the idea that there was a formula, and was submissive and just being open to the process, and being willing, everything has gone smoothly, way better than I could’ve ever imagined! (Veronica Cisneros)

Even if you do not know what the next step is, it is far more important that you make your choices from a place of peace, self-accountability, and honesty, because whatever action you take from that place will be the right action!

Rather than trying to orchestrate everything to the T, have faith in yourself and in life, and let things unfold while you take whatever action you can from that place of trust.

The other side of being a high-achieving woman

Sure, when you’ve got the husband, the job, the dog, the kids, the business, and the house, it can seem really pretty and perfect from the outside.

For any high-achieving woman who is living life to the fullest, there is always an underbelly to that success. There have been times of struggle, uncertainty, and insecurity or discomfort.

I think we have to remember that it is all the little tiny decisions that we make every single day that create the big picture. So, it’s important for us to get out of that “big picture” mindset sometimes. (Chelsea Christensen)

Chelsea’s advice to women is this: instead of focusing on what your life looks like, focus on how it feels to live your life. Is living your life enjoyable to you? Do you enjoy getting up every morning and doing the things that you have set out for yourself to do?
That’s a powerful indicator of sustainable, genuine success. If you do not feel that way – yet – then it’s a good time to start making changes in your life.

The more that we ask ourselves the question, “Does this feel right? Does this feel good? Is this the direction I want to go? What am I holding onto that I am unwilling to let go of?” … if we’re continually asking ourselves these questions, I think that’s where we can truly live from a place of happiness. (Chelsea Christensen)

You can change things for the better

If you are taking a hard look at your life and coming to realize that it’s not what you expected, that it’s not what you want, or that your daily routine for yourself or others takes more than it gives back to you, then stop. You can change it!

If we want to change the situation then we can make new choices, and that’s what I ended up doing because I knew that this was not working for me. (Chelsea Christensen)

You don’t ever have to stay in the sticky downward spiral of thinking that things are bad, or feeling bad every day. Either on your own, with the help of a therapist or coach, or with a group of like-minded women, you can fully take back your life.

Overcoming high-achieving loneliness

When you are giving your time and energy to multiple projects, businesses, or people, you might sometimes feel that you are always giving but not giving enough.

In these moments, pull back and reassess:

  • Where can you ask for help?
  • How can you reschedule your calendar?
  • Where can you cut the slack and try something different?

Oftentimes, in these moments of loneliness, the connection might be lacking. Feeling secure in the connection that you have with your kids, partner, or yourself can help you more than you may realize because it provides you with a sense of security.

Invest in building a connection with a coach or therapist where you can speak freely and openly about what is bothering you. That sense of freedom is invaluable.

Take the responsibility into your hands of connecting with like-minded people who also understand, so there’s not that resentment that you might feel towards your friends, “Why don’t you get this? Why can’t you understand?” (Chelsea Christensen)

Choose a close group of friends that are outside of your immediate family or friend circle that can be your professional support system.

Chelsea’s advice to high-achieving women

Bring your family with you into your thoughts, feelings, and experience.

It teaches them that it’s okay for you to have things that you care about, and to invest in the things that you want to work toward. So, don’t hide your passions from your kids. You are their mom and you are yourself too.

Veronica Cisneros | Empowered And Unapologetic Podcast

Hello, my name is Veronica Cisneros, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Marriage Coach, Course Creator, Retreat Host, Mother of 3, married for 23 years, host of the Empowered and Unapologetic podcast, and owner of a group private practice called Outside The Norm Counseling.

A lot of couples struggle with setting aside intentional time to connect and communicate. They yearn for meaningful conversations that don’t lead to arguments.

1 month away from divorce, I realized I had to do something different. For years I had compromised myself to meet the needs of my husband and my child, I lost myself and was about to lose my marriage. After years of personal growth and self-reflection, I not only reclaimed my identity, and celebrated 23 years of marriage but also helped hundreds of couples transform their marriage from feeling like roommates to experiencing a deeper love.

I am on a mission to help couples reignite the fire by providing them with the skills to have the relationship they deserve.
