Are you a high-achieving woman who’s a mother and an entrepreneur? What do you tell yourself about the expectations you expect yourself to fulfill? Do you allow yourself to have support?
In this podcast episode, I talk to Myri Dujovne about the lies that high-achieving Moms tell themselves.
Meet Myri Dujovne
Myri lives in the Bay Area, CA with her husband and 2 kids, a girl and a boy, and she’s been planning and decorating parties since as long as she can remember. The first big party she planned was her cousin’s bar mitzvah (while planning her wedding too!) and she fell in love, she knew this was something she loved, though it took her a few years to realize she could make a business out of it.
What Myri love’s the most about planning and styling parties is to look at a space and imagine the possibilities, somehow the ideas always come to her when she sees a venue. Myri loves to be challenged with creative themes and, her newly found passion, balloons!
During the morning you’ll find Myri in her studio in Belmont, CA, cutting, designing, and ballooning. And the afternoons are all about her kiddos. On weekends she runs around town helping people make their parties’ dreams come true and throwing some confetti around.
Connect with Myri on her website. Find her on Facebook, Instagram, and on Pinterest.

“We’ve got to be on top of everything”
For modern working mothers, the tasks to complete at certain standards and expectations are nearly impossible to achieve.
Some working moms feel like they have to look great, be fit, have time for their partners, have a great relationship with their kids, keep up a clean house, work on their business, and look good while doing it all.
We have to look healthy, we have to look thin, we’ve got to be on top of things, we have to get to all the appointments, we’ve got to do all of these things, there’s so much on our plate, and there’s so much judgment. Holy shit, there’s so much judgment, and you have to keep it together, because you’re running a business. (Veronica Cisneros)
What’s crucial to notice about these expectations is that they are based on “looks”, and that you “look” to others like you are handling everything perfectly.
Once people let go of that ridiculous notion, everyone can take a step back, breathe in and out, and actually be honest in their state of being.
Let go of those harmful and suffocating expectations so that you can genuinely ask for help when you need it and enjoy your success when it comes around instead of chasing approval.
We want to believe the lie. We want to believe that everything’s okay. We want to believe that our kids are going to be fine, and that it’s not that big of a deal (Veronica Cisneros)
“I’ve got to keep these plates spinning”
Have you ever felt like you have to keep all of the plates spinning because no one else will? How often have to ask for help without feeling like a failure?
You need to accept help. You should allow people to help you when you need it because that exchange is what creates and sustains a community, where people look out for one another.
There are so many responsibilities, and there is so much demanded of us, but this is the reality we thrive in. (Veronica Cisneros)
High-achieving mothers often need to learn how to ask for help when they need it, and they need to let themselves rest and be supported by their partners and their families.
However, the fast-paced and intense lifestyle is often an environment in which they can thrive, especially when it is sustainable and supported by relationships with good communication and love.
What are you looking for?
As a high-achieving woman and mother, what would help you to do the work and the routine that lights up your energy and passion without draining your spirit?
I need someone to be like, “Today was shit … having a fucking business is hard … and I would love a group of people that understand that part. (Myri Dujovne)
Some days, weeks, or months are a tough struggle.
Mothers that are entrepreneurs experience life through a slightly different lens, and having a community of women that understand that nuance can truly support one another
If this is you, and you are looking for a group of women to receive and give support and love to, join us!

Meet Veronica Cisneros
Hello, my name is Veronica Cisneros, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Marriage Coach, Course Creator, Retreat Host, Mother of 3, married for 23 years, host of the Empowered and Unapologetic podcast, and owner of a group private practice called Outside The Norm Counseling.
A lot of couples struggle with setting aside intentional time to connect and communicate. They yearn for meaningful conversations that don’t lead to arguments.
1 month away from divorce, I realized I had to do something different. For years I had compromised myself to meet the needs of my husband and my child, I lost myself and was about to lose my marriage. After years of personal growth and self-reflection, I not only reclaimed my identity, and celebrated 23 years of marriage but also helped hundreds of couples transform their marriage from feeling like roommates to experiencing a deeper love.
I am on a mission to help couples reignite the fire by providing them with the skills to have the relationship they deserve.
