Resourcefulness

You have truly taught me how to truly be empowered and unapologetic in so many ways. I think back to times that we didn’t have money, and you figured shit out. (Veronica Cisneros)

Veronica’s mother taught her to think outside of the box and to make full use of her abilities, strengths, and talents when in a challenging situation.

My mom had that entrepreneur mindset, and she developed ways of making things happen. (Veronica Cisneros)

By persevering through financial struggles, Veronica learned how to be resourceful, and that she could be her biggest asset to help herself get out of a tough time.

Breaking the cycle

This isn’t going to be my legacy, this isn’t going to defeat me. That’s what I had going on in my head, “I have a kid now. I have to figure this shit out, not only for myself but I have to figure this out for her”. (Veronica Cisneros)

Each generation, cycles need to be broken, and it takes strong individuals to commit themselves to do it with the intent of making life better for their children and the next generation.

I wanted to make sure you guys made it. I didn’t want you guys to go through what I went through or my mother went through. I just didn’t want the cycle to repeat itself. (Maria Flores)

However, when people dedicate their lives to others, even their children, they may risk losing themselves in the process. There is a balance between holding on to who you are and sacrificing some things for the sake of others.

This is what happens with most of us parents: we take whatever we learned from our parents and then we try to do the exact opposite, what my mom did for her, and compromised herself, so I’m going to do this for my kids, and compromise myself … both are extremes. (Veronica Cisneros)

This care-pendulum may swing too hard in one generation, so it tries to righten itself by swinging hard towards the other direction.

Overcoming the fear of feeling like a “failure”

Parenting can be an impossible paradox where you want nothing more than you be the best parent but you know that you cannot do everything right.
Let go of this unrealistic expectation. Aim for a high standard while having compassion for yourself along the way. No one on earth is a “perfect” parent, because they do not exist.

How many times have I fallen on my ass, and my mom has been there, in so many ways. Whether it was healthy, or unhealthy, there was still that same commonality, it was still with the goal of, “I’m here for you”. (Veronica Cisneros)

Advice from a Mother to another

Everyone is doing the best that they can with what they have got. Do not be so hard on yourself. Perfection does not exist. Love your kids, do your best with compassion, and keep going.

Veronica Cisneros | Empowered And Unapologetic Podcast

Hello, my name is Veronica Cisneros, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist for over 7 years, a Group Private Practice owner, a Mother of 3, and married for over 20 years. I help housewives transform their marriage, communicate effectively and build confidence. Like you, I also struggled with cutting through the communication barriers. I felt like there was no reason for my husband and me to feel unhappy because we had it all. We just felt disconnected and our conversations were filled with avoidance, kids’ hobbies, and schedules.

I’ve helped plenty of couples in my private practice who struggled with similar issues. With my proven strategies and step-by-step skills, I’ve helped hundreds of women reignite their marriages. I am known for helping women step outside of their comfort zones, I don’t do bandaids, I only teach life-changing healing methods.
