The High-Achieving Woman’s Struggle With Health (A.K.A. Why We Can’t Seem to Get It Together)

You know the drill. We dominate in business, handle our families like pros, and keep our calendars stacked, but when it comes to taking care of ourselves? Ha. That gets put on the back burner faster than our untouched gym memberships.

Angelica puts it bluntly:
“High-achieving women just push, push, push, living in that masculine energy. We put all our energy into our careers, and we lose touch with ourselves.”

Sound familiar? We’re so laser-focused on success that we convince ourselves our weight isn’t that bad. And sure, maybe our jeans don’t button like they used to, but we tell ourselves, I’m fine.

Except fine isn’t cutting it. As Angelica points out, so many of us feel bloated, exhausted, and completely out of sync with our bodies. And here’s the kicker: That’s NOT normal. We just got used to it.

“Your body is your business card,” Angelica says. “And no, I don’t mean you need a six-pack. It’s about the energy you give off.”

Translation: If we feel like crap, we’re going to show up in life and business like crap. So what’s the fix

The Three Biggest Mistakes Women Make With Weight Loss (And How to Avoid Them)

If you’re thinking, Ugh, I just need to do more cardio and eat less, STOP. You’re actually making things worse.

According to Angelica, here are the three biggest mistakes high-achieving women make when trying to lose weight:

1. More Cardio, Less Strength Training

You think hopping on a treadmill for an hour a day is the answer? Nope. Muscle is what actually burns fat, not endless hours of cardio. Angelica breaks it down:

“The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. You don’t get lean from hours of cardio—you get lean from strength training.”

So put down the running shoes and pick up some damn weights.

2. Under-Eating

Raise your hand if you “forgot” to eat all day, then inhaled everything in sight by 8 PM. Yeah, that’s a problem. Starving yourself during the day leads to overindulging later, and your body is not happy about it.

“Most women don’t eat enough during the day, then at night, they pop open the wine and eat their kid’s leftovers. That’s not a strategy.”

3. Ignoring Gut Health

Your gut health controls way more than just digestion—it affects weight loss, metabolism, mood, and energy levels. If your gut is out of whack, losing weight is an uphill battle.

“Your gut health is formed when you’re in the womb,” Angelica explains. “If your mother was stressed, you probably already have gut issues.”

So yes, some of us were doomed before we even took our first breath, but the good news? We can fix it.

So, How Do We Fix This? (The No-BS Approach to Finally Feeling Good)

We’ve established that what we think works doesn’t actually work. So what should we do instead? Angelica lays it out plain and simple:

1. Start Your Day with Lemon Water

No, this isn’t some weird detox trend. Drinking room-temperature lemon water in the morning stimulates digestion, detoxifies the body, and improves metabolism. And yes, it’s easy:

“Just put a bottle of water on your nightstand, grab a lemon, squeeze that bitch in, and drink it first thing.”

2. Strength Train—Even Just 15 Minutes a Day

Don’t have time for the gym? Fine. Just pick up some weights at home. The goal is to build lean muscle, which torches fat and keeps your metabolism high.

3. Stop Checking Your Phone First Thing in the Morning

Listen, I know you do it. You wake up and immediately check emails, Instagram, the latest dumpster fire on the news—STOP. This spikes your cortisol (a.k.a. your stress hormone), and before you’ve even brushed your teeth, you’re already in fight-or-flight mode. Instead, try this:

“Do box breathing: Inhale for four seconds, hold for four, exhale for four. It calms your nervous system and sets you up for a better day.”

4. Eat for YOUR Body, Not Someone Else’s Plan

Forget one-size-fits-all diets. Keto, vegan, intermittent fasting—none of it matters unless it works for you.

5. Get Out of Your Own Damn Way

Your body, your business, your relationships—everything starts with you. If you’re unhappy, it’s time to take ownership and make a change.

“We don’t have a time problem; we have a priority problem. If you want to scale your business and life, you need to feel good in your body first.”

Boom.
