Gottman therapy
John and Julie Gottman are the therapists who designed the principles of Gottman therapy, which is one of the most common and successful therapeutic practices used in couple’s therapy.
Gottman therapy is a therapeutic orientation, so it’s a method that we use to provide couple’s counseling. It is a strong method and has been around for years, and most therapists who work with couples are trained in Gottman therapy. (Veronica Cisneros)
Veronica and Willie’s answers to the Gottman questions
1 – Discuss how the two of you met and got together?
Willie and Veronica met during the summer of ’98 after he got back from his deployment in Japan.
They were driving near one another on the highway, taking turns driving past one another, and noticed each other.
I decided to seize the moment. I stopped, rolled down my window … from then on, it was every single day that we talked from the day after. (Willie Cisneros)
- What were your first impressions of each other?
- What made your spouse stand out?
What stood out was that I felt safe … I totally felt safe with him. It was like we had known each other for so long, and so it was easy for me to just be me. (Veronica Cisneros)
2 – What do you remember most about beginning to date?
- What types of activities did you do together?
- What were some highlights?
3 – For how long did you know each other before you got married?
- How did you make the decision to get married?
- Would you say it was easy or difficult to make the decision?
It was easy for me, I just knew. I don’t know how I knew, I just did. I just acted on my gut and I knew she’s the one. She’s the one I’m meant to be with forever. (Willie Cisneros)
- Were you in love?
- Of all people in the world, what led you to decide that you wanted to marry your partner?
With everything, you’ve always felt like home … even now, you are home, you’re everything. (Veronica Cisneros)

- What do you each remember the most?
Seeing the bigger picture
Sometimes couples get caught up in the problems that they are currently facing, and these issues can skew their perception of their partner and their marriage as a whole.
Doing exercises like these with your partner helps you to recall the good memories and see the bigger picture.
For whatever reasons, your friendship with your partner may have subsided.
If you cannot recall these good times or you feel like your partner is far away from you, try these exercises to reconnect with your partner.

Meet Veronica Cisneros
Hello, my name is Veronica Cisneros, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist for over 7 years, a Group Private Practice owner, a Mother of 3, and married for over 20 years. I help housewives transform their marriage, communicate effectively and build confidence. Like you, I also struggled with cutting through the communication barriers. I felt like there was no reason for my husband and I to feel unhappy because we had it all. We just felt disconnected and our conversations were filled with avoidance, kids’ hobbies, and schedules.
I’ve helped plenty of couples in my private practice who struggled with similar issues. With my proven strategies and step-by-step skills, I’ve helped hundreds of women reignite their marriages. I am known for helping women step outside of their comfort zones, I don’t do bandaids, I only teach life-changing healing methods.
