Alright, let’s get real. This episode? It’s all about diving into the crazy world of balancing marriage, motherhood, and our careers. I mean, we’re talking about juggling not one, but three major areas of life here—three huge ones, if you ask me. And guess what? I was smack dab in the middle of it at the time of recording this podcast. Seriously, by the time we wrapped up this podcast, I had put in a solid 12 hours of hard work and caseload that day.
I want you all to know you’re not alone in this struggle. I’m here to lay it all out for you, no sugarcoating. Right now, I’m wrestling with some serious guilt. I just called up my husband Willie to let him know I needed to record this episode, and in the background? Laughter from our girls—Aubrey’s even got her boyfriend over. And let me tell you, I don’t want to miss a single moment of that. It’s like I’m stuck in a major FOMO loop, knowing all the fun they’re having while I’m chained to my desk.
And then there’s work. Just when I was about to hit record, bam! Another curveball. See, I’m also a clinical supervisor, and there’s this sensitive case I had to dive into, guiding and training a new team member. So yeah, that ate up a good chunk of time, leaving Willie twiddling his thumbs waiting to jump on the recording with me.
But let’s be real, this balancing act? It’s no walk in the park. Some days, I’m rocking it, feeling like I’ve got it all figured out. Other days? I’m practically begging the universe for a breather because it’s all just too much.
And don’t even get me started on the whirlwind my company’s going through. Emotions flying high, fear creeping in—yeah, it’s a rollercoaster. That’s why I’m bringing Willie into the mix. You gotta hear it from a hubby’s perspective too. So, what are you waiting for? Give your partner a nudge to tune in with you. Let’s tackle this balancing act together!
In this podcast episode, Willie and I discuss the pressures faced by high-achieving women and how husbands can support their wives. We emphasize the importance of understanding and validating these struggles and not adding more pressure. We also address common questions husbands may have and the insecurities that may arise.

Challenges of Balancing Marriage, Motherhood, and a Career
High achieving women often experience immense pressure to excel in their current careers while fulfilling responsibilities as mother and a partner. The expectations placed on them both internally and externally can create a delicate balancing act that requires understanding and support.
High-achieving women like me often feel this crazy pressure to nail it in every area. It’s like walking a tightrope, needing support and understanding. Willie, reflecting on his own experiences, totally gets it, and even shares some regrets about missing stuff.
I think that’s part of the key is having that sense of patience and understanding, seeing that there’s like the purpose of what’s going on, the working to achieve something. (Willie Cisneros)
Willie is all about staying centered spiritually and rolling with God’s timing. His military background gives him a unique perspective on my struggles. And hey, husbands out there, listen up! We’re talking about the real pressures your wives face – work stress, guilt trips about family time, trying to juggle it all. Willie’s great at seeing when I’m drowning in it all, emphasizing the need for space and patience. Our chat really shows the importance of having each other’s backs and understanding where the other’s coming from. It’s all about keeping the empathy flowing and being there for each other through the chaos.
Understanding the Pressures for High Achieving Women
So, how can we navigate the pressures we face without adding more weight to the load?
You see, many of us ladies are all about reaching for the stars in every aspect of our lives. But let’s get real here – sometimes, we set these crazy high standards for ourselves that are just impossible to meet. And yeah, it’s tough to admit, but it’s the truth.
So, imagine this scenario: I’m in the zone, pushing myself to the limit, and suddenly, Willie’s there saying, “Hey babe, you’re overdoing it.” Man, that hits hard. Because in that moment, what I’m really needing from him is a big old dose of belief. I don’t want him thinking I can’t handle it, you know?
But let’s switch gears for a sec. Willie’s got a point too. He’s all about recognizing when I’m running on empty and need to hit the reset button. Like, imagine he’s the coach on the sidelines, checking in to see if I’m still in the game or if I need a breather. And yeah, sometimes, I push back because, well, I’m stubborn like that. But deep down, I know he’s got my back. It’s this dance between support and knowing when to step in, without making me feel like I’m failing. And let me tell you, that ain’t easy for either of us. But hey, we’re figuring it out, one pitch at a time.
We recognize that you’re down, but you’re not out. (Willie Cisneros)
Addressing Insecurities
What insecurities come up for you when you are attempting to support our career goals and maintaining that strong family bond? What are the insecurities that come up for you? And how are you going to address those insecurities?
Men facing insecurities while supporting high-achieving wives is like navigating uncharted territory. Traditionally, men have been the primary breadwinners, so when wives take the lead, it can hit their pride hard. Seeing their spouse excel financially and professionally adds pressure to perform and be the supportive partner. It’s like watching from the sidelines as their wives shine on stage, wondering how they fit into the picture.
The struggle lies in reconciling the roles—they’re used to being the ones cheered for, not the other way around. It’s about adapting to a new dynamic and figuring out where they stand in this evolving partnership.
In this episode, we emphasize that addressing these insecurities is key, even if there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. It’s about having open conversations and understanding each other’s vulnerabilities to build a stronger, more supportive relationship.
