Mama, do you feel like you’re always trying to explain yourself, in an attempt to avoid feeling shame? Are you stuck in the dream of being the perfect mother or even the perfect wife? Some days you just don’t have it all together, you feel stressed and overwhelmed from spinning so many plates, but some of those plates have fallen and are broken. I get it, letting people see your broken plates can be hard.
Let me ask you, do you feel like an empowered woman? Does the word empowerment even feature in your vocabulary?
In this podcast episode, we’re doing things differently. You get to listen in on a conversation between friends. Who also happens to be my neighbor, Sanjuana Saenz. In this episode, we are kicking it up a notch and Sanjuana gets to ask me the questions this time around about, how to step into empowerment. Spoiler alert, she even made me cry.

Why is empowerment necessary?
Many women get stuck in the dream of being the perfect mother, wife, and homemaker, apart from leading a thriving business and having dinner ready every evening.
It is not a sustainable model, and it is built on the idea that women need to give up who they are to assume all these roles, but that is not true.
We’ve been taught, we’ve been conditioned to believe that that is our sole purpose. We’ve been conditioned to believe that our identity is wrapped around our to-do list. (Veronica Cisneros)
Empowerment is necessary because it teaches, and reminds, women that they have value as who they are, beyond what it is that they do every day. They have value as people before they have value as mothers and wives.
Empowerment reminds women that they are individuals with dreams and ambitions, and they are as capable and worthy to follow their dreams as any person. They do not have to choose.
A common excuse, “We’re not that bad”
When there have been potential problems in the relationship for a while, a common excuse for unkind or uncontrolled behavior is that “we’re not that bad”.
You notice that there was that divide, you notice that … anything could tip either of you guys off and the conversation could go either way, depending on your mood, his mood, whatever. (Veronica Cisneros)
If you and your partner are walking a tightrope of communication every day, and the fuse is constantly short, then something needs to change.

It starts with you! Real work for real rewards
You need to do the hard work if you want to make it work, and it starts with you.
This is a commitment to yourself, your peace, the life you want to lead, and the marriage that you have with your partner.
By putting effort into your relationship, you can reignite and deepen intimacy, have your partner have your back and support you. You can work as a team, and work through to solve issues together as a couple within the family unit, instead of working against one another.

Meet Veronica Cisneros
Hello, my name is Veronica Cisneros, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist for over 7 years, a Group Private Practice owner, a Mother of 3, and married for 21 years. I help housewives transform their marriage, communicate effectively and build confidence. Like you, I also struggled with cutting through the communication barriers. I felt like there was no reason for my husband and I to feel unhappy because we had it all. We just felt disconnected and our conversations were filled with avoidance, kids’ hobbies, and schedules.
I’ve helped plenty of couples in my private practice who struggled with similar issues. With my proven strategies and step-by-step skills, I’ve helped hundreds of women reignite their marriages. I am known for helping women step outside of their comfort zones, I don’t do bandaids, I only teach life-changing healing methods.
